My Books

My book Knowing Joseph has arrived--finally!
People say that writers should write what they know, and that is just what I did. I gained experience and learned much about autism as a special needs teacher for several years, where I had the opportunity to work with several children with autism and their families. Now, I have a grandson with autism. I enjoy him. He makes me laugh.

KNOWING JOSEPH
is the story of a Brian, a boy who struggles with the fact that his younger brother has autism, his own need to be perfect because of it, and the bullies who taunt him because of his brother.

For kids in grades 2-6 and anyone who wants to know more about autism, it is published by
Blooming Tree Press

IT'S TIME
is an early reader/picture book about Tommy, a boy with autism, who learns to control his anxiety and behavior by using his words when unexpected changes occur .
For kids in grades 1-3 and others who want to know more about autism, it is published by

Jason and Nordic Press
My works-in-progress include Makin' It, a story for mid-graders about Louie, who has ADHD and a not so good home life, an early reader about a non-verbal boy with autism, and a collection of poems for kids.

Hi Judy!
Great! Wasn't this easy? I have a friend in Indy who works with autistic children. I see a lot of stuff on tv about the subject too. Seems like it's starting to really be studied and researched.
Now that your blog is here, it makes us neighbors!
BTW-I am submitting Gracie's Hope to Mittens. I changed my mind a couple of times, but I saw they have a book about Noah's Ark, so maybe....?

Congratulations on the publications, Judy. I clicked over and read some of your poetry and enjoyed it. I'm proud to be involved with you on Literary Liftoff and other SCWG activities. Thanks for your guidance.
